September Newsletter

~Namaste~
A September Newsletter from Erinn Earth
Hello Friends!

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful summer, it's really been beautiful here in Florida, I've gotten lots of amazing pictures of the sky, flowers, animals, people...but for sure we are all looking forward to the cooler temperatures approaching!  Here are 3 of my favorite summer photos with a quotes from one of my yoga teachers books;

I am sending along lots of love, prayers and encouragement for you.  Our spiritual work is the most important part of who we are as a being.  Spiritual strength and determination gives us the power to curb desires and states of mind that can be traumatizing.  Our yoga practice, including and centered upon meditation, can lead us toward spiritual contentment.

Lord Krishna states to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita:

Disciplining himself continuously as described,
the yogi who has a subdued mind,
experiences spiritual security.
He achieves the extinction of mundane affinity as
he simultaneously attains the highest living state.
He achieves an existential position with Me.(6:15)

I really enjoyed offering the above workshop "Core-Self Discovery:  Locating the I am" at Unity Church last weekend. I seriously hope you can join me for the next one. This lecture and meditation practice are invaluable experiences in our quest toward understanding the mind and what to do to make success in meditation possible.  Most importantly, we make the most profound discovery, that of the central self, or 'core-self', the I am, atma in Sanskrit.
It exists and it has a domain within you, this workshop should help you find it.

Newsletter July 2014

Warm Summer Greeting!
From Erinn Earth
Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Teacher

~Hello Friends~
I'm reaching out to you with love and prayers especially for the good health of your spiritual practice.

Sometimes it's good to remind ourselves that the material world will always provide us with ups, downs, dramas and traumas. We won't be stopping that from happening. It seems like as soon as things settle down and we feel like we've got things figured out, here comes change again!

Despite this, we strive to free ourselves from the pain of what we eventually accept as being the temporary world. Through meditation practice we can re-attach our concentration force toward something divine. Clinging not to what we know to be binding, but rather to what frees us from repetitive habits, addictions, births and deaths, in which we suffer from desires that aren't really our own and that can never be satisfied.

A master yogi told me to cling to my spiritual practice like a baby gorilla clings to its mother, even as she bounds through the jungle.

Holding on all the tighter when things get wild!

This world is a jungle. It can be spiritually bewildering if we stay lost in nature's impulses.

Even though we hold on tight, sometimes we do fall.
But like a baby gorilla, we fight to relocate our nourishment once again and climb back on.  If we fall, we practice resetting the mind and heart, redirecting the energy of consciousness toward closer and closer association with the divine.

How can we do this?

Through meditation.

This may require that our lifestyle serve the well-being of a meditation practice. This is a primary point of discussion during my lessons.

Every body contains psychic perception equipment, but it may not be fit for beneficial use.

Yoga postures and breathing exercises, when done together, clean and service this perception equipment as you concentrate on and get to know these subtle tools.

Daily, sacred habits such as meditation, prayer, yogic exercise, writing, chanting and scriptural study, help us maintain a 'sattvic' (clear, intelligent) lifestyle.

Our objective doesn't have to be more and more power in the material world, but an internal goal of gaining real psychic insight into the nature of our current 3 layered existence.

-The physical body (tangible, dense)

-The subtle body (subtle, energetic)
-The living being, or, spiritual self (divine, bliss)

I send you encouragement today, to literally breathe good health into your daily routine. Observe both the physical and subtle bodies as vehicles of a consciousness in a sensitive process of discovering and freeing itself.  Possibly even relocating to a divine environment through completion of karmic duties here on Earth.

As my own practice deepens, I find myself spending even more time alone, more time in objective reflection, more time working on immature aspects of my development. Most of us have them. I'm spending more time studying the subtle life force system that is working the fingers that type these words and uses language.  This life force is not me, but it is worth my study. It beats my heart, breathes my breath, digests my food. It runs all of the functions in the Universe.

But it is not me.

What is that force?

What does this force have to do with me spiritually?
What does it have to do with reincarnation?

The study of nature is a fundamental practice of yoga. The realization of samsara (repeated birth and death) through introspection and investigation of the eternal self is important to come to terms with.

We take time to discuss these realities together during yoga class.

Group classes:
Gentle exercises, abundant kundalini breathing, sensual energy retraction, meditation, lesson and discussion.

Weekly Group Classes:

Tuesdays:  4pm Jessica's Organic Farm
===
Wednesdays: 6pm Unity Fellowship Hall
===
Thursdays: 10:30am Unity Fellowship Hall

Saturdays:  10:30am Unity Annex (little building near Proctor Rd on Unity campus.)

My GROUP classes are gentle and personalized for each individual student including asana, pranayama, meditation and rich discussion. Focused attention is given to the subtle body and the student's ability to perceive and purify it.

The more consistent your daily practice, in or out of the group setting, the more intuitively and effectively you will conduct and monitor your own sessions at home.

My INDIVIDUAL classes are done with one or two students. Either basic Yoga or specialized Kundalini Yoga/Breath Infusion.
These classes are far more individualized and i personally monitor and guide your practice. These sessions are done at 4am, Brahmamuhurta.
If you are a serious student of the kundalini psychic life force system, contact me about the preliminary requirements before starting the practice.
Unless you are a current student of mine, a one month preparation requirement is necessary to prepare for the practice.

As Head Prayer Chaplain at Unity of Sarasota, I have spent the last several weeks and will spend the next couple, training new chaplains.  It has been wonderful and I've been honored to conduct the training.  My great friend and prayer warrior Rev. Valarie McKay has been my assistant teacher and I am so grateful for her exuberance and fearlessness.

My Kirtan Band is going strong.

Jai Shri Krishna
Jai Shri Radhe

Hello Friends!
Salutations and Prostrations

I'm sending love and greetings
and reminders for upcoming events.

Tonight
Saturday May 25th

at Siesta Key Public Beach
(directions: pull into public beach parking lot
go to the right, to the very end of the parking lot
park and enter beach there, that's where you'll see me set up
about 1/4 way to the water)

I hope my newsletter finds you well and happy and of course staying focused on your spiritual practice.  It takes a lot of dedication and practice to even
become aware of this matrix we are in
and it's a daily struggle in managing the urgings of the kundalini life force.
Things are going pretty well on this end although I admit that getting up for the 4am practice, many mornings,
is a matter of summoning spiritual strength.
Kundalini's plan is deep sleep at that hour, therefore each day when the alarm goes off, my mind tends to go through a series of possible ways of getting out of it!
But spiritual passion has to override this tendency.
Remembering the importance of cleansing the psyche and bringing forth spiritual progress must beat down the desire to shut the alarm off and fall back into sleep.

The reward for doing this asana and pranayama practice at this sacred time of day is the meditation that comes directly after.  Over the last couple months I have developed a true love for meditating at this time.

Last month I began training my first two Yoginis in advanced kundalini yoga and their progress
and commitment is truly admirable.
They've been up and ready each morning
even though it's still pitch dark.
I monitor the practice, meditate with them
and then we read and discuss
an aspect of Yoga philosophy.
By this time the sun is rising and we have started our day in the consciousness of Spirit.

My 17 year old son Kymanie is wrapping up his junior year and still growing like a weed!  6'3'' and still has a couple more growth spurts to go through.
He's becoming more serious about his plans for after high school and we remain close.
I have a lot to be thankful for with this kid.
He loves nothing more than basketball, good food, friends, he's philosophical and curious and just finished reading the book The Hunger Games.  Although I don't look forward to him leaving home someday, over the last couple years, I've been preparing myself emotionally for the transition we will naturally have to make. My plan is to do it with as much emotional grace as possible! Ha!! I'm already planning to not be too hard on myself if a break down or two occurs because this is the nature of motherhood and the material world.  I do know that mothering never really ends and having a healthy loving child is one of the sweetest experiences this existence can provide.

I try to focus as much as possible on the subtle relationships I have with those I love, for they are far more enduring and essential than the physical.
